AURIENT GOLD
DESIGNS BY EMMA VILLEDROUIN
EMMA VILLEDROUIN and her family moved to Hanoi in August 2021 and was delighted to be welcomed by fellow jeweller, Ryno Spence straight away. Emma works in 18k yellow gold with colorful semi-precious stones. She constructs one of a kind pieces and small series using hand building techniques. Having lived in several countries, Brazil, Tunisia, Haiti, France and the United States, she has an eclectic set of influences. One thing remains consistent: her production is small and special and her patrons respond to that. A Japanese couple introduced her to the concept of wabi-sabi which they recognized in her work. This aesthetic prizes beauty that is "imperfect", impermanent, and incomplete... including asymmetry, asperity, simplicity, economy, austerity, modesty, intimacy and appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and processes. She carries that ideal with her each time she goes to her studio.
